Family Initiative

Our Belief:

  • Family members have unique needs for support to become an effective caregiver and to achieve optimal wellness themselves
  • Family members play a significant role in consumer’s recovery journey
  • Family members are valuable partners in promoting “mental health for all” in the community

To support family members to care for their loved ones who are dealing with mental illness, the Family Initiative provides a variety of programs/services/activities for caregivers to strengthen their resilience when they walk alongside consumers’ journey to recovery:

  • Consultation to family members
  • Education workshops and materials development
  • Mutual support groups in different languages
  • Self-care and related skills building
  • Leadership training to build the capacity of caregivers
  • Opportunities to participate in anti-stigma events and advocacy activities

Through the above, we want to achieve the followings:

  • Increase knowledge on mental health, mental illness and recovery
  • Enhance coping skills
  • Promote self-care
  • Facilitate mutual support
  • Develop leadership among family members
  • Empower family members in caring for their loved one
